Away from Home
I have been given an opportunity to go abroad and to work on an assignment
for three months, by my managers at office. I left Bangalore on 6th February
2004 and reached Liverpool, United Kingdom on the Saturday, 7th February 2004.
This is the first time I am travelling by aircraft, and the first time I am
travelling out of India. I really enjoyed the travel by aircraft.
I am having mixed feelings about this travel. Though I am getting a chance
to see a new country and new places, I am missing certain things by accepting
the opportunity. One big thing I miss is the Transect Surveys being conducted
at Tadoba, Pench and Melghat tiger reserves in Madhya Pradesh. I was actually
looking forward to these transects.
And when I am hearing the forest fires that are raging at Bandipur and
Nagarahole National Parks at Karnataka, my heart sinks. The forests that have
given me moments of great pleasure, and where I have very happily watched India's
greatest wildlife, where I watched tigers and elephants, are burning.
I shall write up my experiences at UK when I get time. Needless to say, I look forward
to the day when I will put my feet back in India, my land.
