Equipment Upgrade: Canon EF 100-400mm f4.5-5.6 L IS USM
Seven months back I had the good fortune to spend a huge amount of money to buy
an SLR camera and a 75-300mm lens, to try my hand in wildlife and bird photography.
During these months I spent most of my free time going to national parks and
sanctuaries trying to photograph birds and animals. The results of my efforts in
these months can be seen in the gallery section. During this course, I learnt a little
about bird and wildlife photography.
Times a many I felt crippled by the 75-300mm lens and felt a strong impulse to
invest in a better, professional lens, which would help me in better utilizing the opporutnities
I get. So, gathering all the money I had and borrowing some, I bought the
Canon EF 100-400mm f4.5-5.6 L IS USM lens. I personally consider this as a significant
milestone for myself.
This lens of Canon is well suited for wildlife photography, and I hope to put it into
full use. The Canon 'L' series is a professional series of lens, and this is one of them.
The lens also sports inbuilt 'Image Stabilizer' which eliminates camera shake - a major
reason for spoilt bird photographs - by 2 shutter speeds.
In God's good time, I hope to bring out more better photographs of
our wild friends in their natural habitat. And in the process, I hope to learn a little
more about them.
